Courses Offered

Forum-Nexus allows students of any major to mix and match from regular, Supervised Independent Study (SIS), and internship courses, earning up to 9 transferable credits for a customized, enriching international academic experience.

Forum-Nexus Courses
Classes are held on weekday mornings, either at a local campus or in the conference center of the hotel. The professor for each course travels with the group from city to city. Each regular course (section 01 and section 02 courses) is worth 3 U.S. semester credit hours (6 ECTS credits). All students take at least one regular course.
Students enrolled in a Supervised Independent Study (SIS) course pursue structured independent work, following a well-defined syllabus, under the supervision of one or two faculty members. SIS courses allow students to study a specific subject in the context of Europe/the European Union. Each SIS course is worth 3 U.S. semester credit hours (6 ECTS credits). Students enrolled in an SIS course are required to also enroll in a regular 3-credit course.

The Forum-Nexus Internship Program provides students with an opportunity to gain valuable academic and professional experience while earning 3 internship credits. There are a limited number of openings. There are internships available in Social Media, Arts, Communication, Hospitality Management, Marketing, Media and others. Students enrolled in an internship course are required to also enroll in a regular 3-credit course.

Internship Program

Forum-Nexus programs focus on enhancing students' International IQ through a daily seminar led by Dr. Hugo Hervitz, where they learn about European cultures, geography, current events, and language tips, fostering a deeper understanding and immersive study abroad experience.

Internship Program

Schedule of Classes

  • Section 01 classes are held from 9:30 am - 11:00 am
  • International IQ Seminar 11:10 am - 11:50 am
  • Section 02 classes are held from 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Professional Visits

Forum-Nexus programs emphasize professional development and networking through visits to leading companies and organizations, offering insights and connections to jumpstart your career.

Independent Cultural Visits

Forum-Nexus students enhance their experience through Independent Cultural Visits (ICVs) to historical sites, museums, and cultural events in each city, participating in at least 8 such visits.

Sponsoring Universities

FRANKLIN UNIVERSITY SWITZERLAND

A prestigious liberal arts university accredited both in the U.S. (Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools) and in Switzerland (Swiss University Conference).

UNIVERSITÀ CATTOLICA DEL SACRO CUORE

A leading Italian private university in Milan, the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart is fully accredited and a member of the ISEP network.

Independent Weekend Day Trips and Excursions

During free weekends in the Forum-Nexus program, students can explore the current city or opt for Independent Day Trips to nearby destinations or Weekend Excursions to other cities or countries, with FN providing recommended itineraries. However, arrangements for these trips are not covered by FN and are not included in the program fees.

An Independent Day Trip is organized by students and involves traveling to and from the base FN city in the same day, to visit a nearby destination.

  • July 6, out of Milan, visit Florence or Cinque Terre
  • July 7, out of Milan, visit Venice
  • July 14, out of Amsterdam, visit The Hague or Rotterdam
  • July 19, in the island of Rhodes, visit Lindos

An Independent Weekend Excursion is an overnight trip to another city/country during a weekend. It typically involves leaving Friday evening or Saturday morning, and in most cases, returning on Monday evening. International weekend excursions are subject to approval by Forum-Nexus.

  • Departing Paris on July 12 in the afternoon (after class) to London, or Berlin, or Prague, returning to Amsterdam on July 14, arriving in the evening. Transportation could be by plane or in the case of London by train.
  • Departing Amsterdam on July 17 in the afternoon (after class), flying to Santorini, Mykonos, or Athens, then flying to Rhodes on July 19, arriving in the evening.

Clubs

We encourage you to take maximum advantage of your free time in Europe. In many cases, this will be achieved through group activities with all Forum-Nexus students, but at other times you will enjoy the company of a smaller number of friends sharing specific interests. In order to facilitate this process, we encourage the formation of the following clubs. Forum-Nexus is the facilitator of the clubs, but the initiative comes from the students themselves, usually starting via our private Facebook group 1-2 months before the start of the program.

Fitness and Running Club

For active students wishing to explore each city by running before class in the mornings, hiking (where applicable), and staying fit while studying abroad.

Photography Club

For photography majors and students who just love to take pictures, this club will meet to explore each city together to take photos of unique neighborhoods, small villages, mountains, and lakes.

Art and History Club

This club is ideal for students who would like to spend time exploring the amazing wealth of museums, cathedrals and historical sites in each of the European cities visited.

Food Club

Students in the food club will enjoy visiting authentic and unique restaurants in each city, sampling the local cuisine as well as the gastronomic contribution of immigrant groups in each country.

Soccer Club

Avid soccer fans will have the opportunity to visit the following famous stadiums: Camp Nou in Barcelona (weekend trip), Stade de France in Paris, and San Siro Stadium in Milan; as well as attend some soccer matches together, or find opportunities for playing soccer in their free time.

Music and Dancing Club

For students who have an appreciation for music and love to dance, this club may explore each city by attending concerts, listening to live music, learning about local dances in each city, and visiting the most popular venues.
