Financial Aid Program

Program summary

As part of our Financial Aid Program, Forum-Nexus offers additional financial support to those who successfully help us broaden our community.

  • We want to thank you for referring Forum-Nexus within your community. For every participant that you refer, we will gladly contribute 10,000 Scholarship Points to your scholarship fund.
  • Use your points anytime for any upcoming Forum-Nexus program (they never expire)

How to get started with the Referral Program

  1. Invite your friends: Share the link Why Study Abroad with Forum-Nexus to start building enthusiasm for Forum-Nexus among your community
  2. Create an online promotion using Facebook, Orkut, blogs, other.
  3. Create a local on-campus promotion or event and attract local students (we will support you with flyers, banners, t-shirts, and more). See below for more details.

Online promotion

A. The easiest: Facebook FAN page

  1. Become a fan of Forum-Nexus on facebook and click "suggest to friends"
  2. Click the "Share" button (located half way down on the left side) to share your enthusiasm for studying abroad with your friends
  3. Pick an upcoming event on Facebook (like the Forum Europe Summer Program) and invite your friends to attend!!!!
  4. Accumulate Scholarship Points

B. The most effective: Facebook GROUP page

  1. Create a Who Wants to Study Abroad? group on Facebook by clicking here: http://www.facebook.com/grouphome.php.
  2. Then click create a group button in the upper right, fill the group information, and invite your friends
  3. Group name and content is up to you (try something like "Interested in Studying Abroad?" , or perhaps "Thinking about studying abroad?")
  4. Category suggested: Common Interest - Travel
  5. Invite your friends to join your group and see who is interested in studying abroad with you in an upcoming program (you may be surprised to find friends that want to come!)
  6. Benefit? This is an easy way in which to invite friends, and to share your enthusiasm with others, and it works!
  7. Examples of successful groups can be found here and here . In these groups, its common for 100 or more people to join, each showing an interest to learn more about Forum-Nexus Study Abroad. If three people participated, the student would earn 30,000 Scholarship Points. If twelve participated, they would qualify for a full 100% scholarship on any 4-week 6-credit program!

C. The most professional: LinkedIn events

  1. LinkedIn offers a very professional way for students to invite their friends and colleagues to attend professional events
  2. To get started, just create an event on LinkedIn by clicking here: http://events.linkedin.com/
  3. Join any existing Forum-Nexus events, or create your own (event name and content is up to you).
  4. Invite your contacts
  5. Proudly display your events on your LinkedIn profile (to do so, look for "applications" and enable the "events")
  6. Note: we have found in the past that inviting contacts on LinkedIn to Forum-Nexus events is extremely professional. Even if your contacts choose not to attend, it is beneficial for your resume-building process to invite your friends, and let them know about the professional experience that you are about to be apart of.
  7. Also, consider joining the Forum-Nexus group on LinkedIn, and network with our alumni. (job board coming soon!)

D. The most Brazilian: Orkut

  1. Yes, its true that people from Brazil love Orkut (as do people from India and Estonia)...
  2. So, here is a little guide to help our International friends connect with more international friends, and share Forum-Nexus love with Brazilians, Indians, and Estonians :-)
  3. Go to your Orkut page, click "PROMOTE" (in the left side). Create a promotion
  4. Create a group on Orkut and invite your friends. Or join the Forum-Nexus group on Orkut, and invite your friends.

On-Campus Promotions

While online promotions seem to be very popular these days, we here at Forum-Nexus still believe in old-school efforts, as plain and simple as setting up a booth on campus and handing out flyers. No, it's not as flashy as a Facebook campaign, but the old tried-and-true method of actually talking to fellow students seems to really work! (imagine that :-) For students interested in setting up an on-campus campaign, here below are some useful tips for getting started.

For students interested in setting up an on-campus campaign, here below are some useful tips for getting started.

  1. Let us know you are interested, and we will send you a "kit" with posters, flyers, T-Shirts, and more.
  2. Find out if its ok, and then... put up the flyers in approved areas, or distribute them to your local student organizations (Greek, sports, social, etc).
  3. If it's allowed, consider putting up a little booth on campus, wear the t-shirts with pride, hand out flyers, answer questions, and show your enthusiasm about the whole concept of studying abroad and expanding one's International IQ!!
  4. Just wearing the Forum-Nexus t-shirt around campus is often enough to generate questions and conversations
  5. Invite friends to join your facebook group (see above)
